A Pater Filus caseback engraved with a father and son
Pater Filus Engraving

A watch keeps time.
This one keeps a memory.

Scroll

Some moments aren’t meant to just be remembered — they’re meant to be worn. That’s why we created something we believe no one else in watchmaking is doing: engraving the face of someone you love onto the caseback of your Pater Filus watch.

It isn’t decoration.

It’s a story hidden exactly where only you know to look — one you feel every time you turn your wrist, even if no one else ever sees it. A father and a son. A moment that would otherwise stay buried in a camera roll. A gift no one else can give, because no other watch carries your story.

How it works

This is a bespoke project, built by hand for every single order — which means it takes longer than a standard watch order. It isn’t run through a machine. Here’s exactly what happens after you place your order:

  1. 01

    The email

We reach out by email and ask you to send us the photo you’d like engraved, along with any details that matter to you — the angle, who’s in frame, what you want to stand out.

  2. 02

    The engraving

Our team turns your photo into a hand-crafted engraving, working line by line so the details that matter — the expression, the look, the moment — don’t get lost in the shift from photograph to metal.

  3. 03

    The updates

We keep you updated throughout the process, not just with a “your order is ready” message at the end. We want you to see it take shape before it becomes permanent.

  4. 04

    The permanence

Only once you’re happy with it does the engraving become permanent on your watch’s caseback.

About your photo

We know what it means to trust someone with a family photo. That’s why your image is used strictly to create this engraving — for nothing else, ever, without your explicit consent. Files are permanently deleted once production is complete.

If we ever want to show your engraving on our social channels, we ask you first, by name. A no changes nothing.

Before you order

Up to six weeks. Every engraving is drawn and cut by hand for that one order, so it takes longer than a standard watch. If you are ordering for a date, tell us and we will be honest about whether we can make it.

Yes. We show you each step and nothing is cut into your caseback until you have seen the engraving and told us you are happy with it.

Photos where the father and son have their heads close to each other. Closeness in the frame is what survives the move from photograph to metal — faces read clearly, backgrounds matter far less.

It is permanent. The image is engraved into the steel of the caseback rather than printed on top of it, so it will not fade, rub off, or wash away.

Engraved watches can only be returned if there is a fault with the watch itself. Because the engraving is made specifically for you and cannot be undone, it is not returnable otherwise — which is why we take approval seriously before cutting.

Completely. Your photo is used strictly to make your engraving and is permanently deleted once production is complete. If we would like to show your engraving on our social channels, we ask you personally first, and a no changes nothing.

This isn’t a service for someone in a hurry. It’s for someone who wants to give a gift that will be worn for 20 years — and remembered, every time, for why it was given.

Begin your engraving

Choose your watch first. We email you about the photo once the order is placed — nothing is engraved before you approve it.
